The Internet2 SPEC released a new version of the Strategic Plan, which is being submitted for discussion and adoption by the Internet2 Board at its 8 July meeting. This revised document incorporates substantial comments, insights and suggestions received during extensive consultation with Internet2 members and Board. A “town meeting” is being planned with the community to discuss the transition from strategy to execution.

David E. Jent is the associate vice president, networks at Indiana University. He manages the Global Research Network Operations Center Engineering team and is the managing director of operations for the Indiana GigaPop. As chair of the Internet2 Architecture & Operations Advisory Council, Dave serves on the Internet2 Board of Trustees, and is a member of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee.

The Call for Participation for track sessions, side meetings, poster sessions, and demonstrations at the Fall 2008 Internet2 Member Meeting hosted by Louisiana State University and the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI) is now open. Submissions are due by 11 July.  Also, Internet2 is calling for volunteers to work for Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, 11 October.
